At City St George's, School of Health & Medical Sciences (Tooting campus), we are working hard to improve student facilities and equipment.
In 2022, we were successful in our bid for £5.8 million, awarded by the Office for Students (OfS) specifically to boost teaching facilities and equipment in higher education institutions.
The School was one of only 47 UK Universities and Colleges to be awarded the maximum amount of £5.8 million per provider.
This funding, alongside other investments including many made by the School itself, will be used to deliver an Education Transformation Project that will enhance our hands-on skills facilities, create new student study spaces and equip the campus for efficient digital learning and study.
We are really excited to significantly enhance teaching, learning and the campus experience for our students and staff. Follow along here and look out for the #BuildStGeorges hashtag on social media – we'll be posting our progress as we go along.
We welcome your feedback, to get in touch, please have a look at our Get involved section.
The project will progress across a three-year period and include:
- Enhancements to skills and simulation facilities, where we are refurbishing, enlarging, and improving hands-on laboratory and skills-based learning environments.
- We're also transforming our digital campus to strengthen flexible, digitally-enhanced learning.
- To support independent and group learning, we’re developing new student study spaces including discussion rooms, a flexible learning area, teaching space for core hours, and additional out-of-hours study space available seven days a week.
- As part of the Office for Students Education Transformation Projects, we're upgrading 40 teaching rooms and digitally enhancing 80 more across campus within our teaching spaces.
