Social responsibility in our outreach

At City St George's, we are committed to local, national and international outreach projects that positively impact those with whom they engage.

Widening Participation

Through early engagement, the Widening Participation team at City St George's provide dedicated, practical support and learning for students across the full educational life cycle, from primary and secondary school through to transition to higher education.

The Widening Participation team aims to reach and support young people:

  • who are eligible for free school meals
  • who don’t have family history of higher education
  • who are students with a disability
  • who have refugee/asylum seeker status
  • who are care experienced or care leavers
  • who are estranged from their families

The team aims to empower students to achieve, and succeed in higher education by providing meaningful encounters with City St George's staff and students during their full calendar of events including:

  • visit days
  • taster weeks
  • careers information advice and guidance sessions
  • mentoring and tutoring

To get in touch with the Widening Participation Team about our programmes and how you or your school could work with us, email WPteam@city.ac.uk

EmPOWHer

EmPOWHer is a Transition to Secondary project for upper KS2 Girls. A successful pilot with a single school in 2022/23 has led to an expanded primary programme, building on our success in delivering innovative, high-impact work with this age group.
