Governance at City St George's
City St George's is an independent corporation, founded and constituted by the grant of a Royal Charter in 1966. Now also governed by a Supplemental Charter of 2016, granted to mark the accession of City St George's to the University of London.
The Charter defines City St George's Council as its supreme governing body, ultimately responsible for the affairs of City St George's.
City St George's Governance structure includes a framework of responsibilities delegated from the Council.
The Council delegates some of its powers to six key bodies:
- Senate
- Audit and Risk Committee
- Strategy and Development Committee
- Remuneration Committee
- Finance Committee
- Corporate Governance and Nominations Committee
It also delegates authority to the President who is a member of Council and the leader of the University.
Each year the Council provides a Corporate Governance Statement which forms part of the Financial Statements and which describes the committees and their work throughout the year.
