Contextual admissions
We have a contextual admissions scheme which is designed to support eligible students to enter the university. It offers an alternative grade offer as well as access to pre-application and post-application support.

UniCares is City St George’s dedicated support network for care-experienced students, young adult carers, young estranged students, refugees and asylum seekers.
How we can help:
- Providing pastoral support
- Financial assistance such as bursaries
- Accommodation advice
- Access to a Designated Member of Staff who will respond to all your queries in a timely manner
- Priority for a range of City St George’s services and extra-curricular activities.

Tooting campus support services
Support available for eligible prospective students at our Tooting campus:
- Our Student Welfare Officer is currently our point of contact for care leavers and estranged students. You can contact the Student Welfare Office at welfare@sgul.ac.uk.
- Tooting campus travel bursary to support attendance to in-person events and interviews at our Tooting campus.
- Flexible and personalised campus visits. If you would like to book a visit please email the Tooting Widening Participation team at wp@sgul.ac.uk.
- Financial support and advice. If you are unsure about anything to do with your student funding, please don’t hesitate to contact our Student Funding Adviser, Helen Williams, at studentfinance@sgul.ac.uk.
- Care leavers who are undertaking their first undergraduate course can be considered for the Opportunity Fund Grant.
- Care leavers are a priority group for our Access to Learning Fund (hardship fund for home students) and may be eligible for an additional £1,000 grant from this Fund. You can apply to to the ALF once you are fully registered and enrolled on your course.
- Estranged students who are undertaking their first undergraduate course are automatically eligible for a £1000 grant from the School of Health & Medical Sciences.
- Priority for housing in the Tooting campus Horton Halls of Residence and eligibility for year-round 365 day accommodation contracts if you need them. It may also be possible to accommodate postgraduate care leaver students.
Support for current students
Once you join us at City St George’s you can access a wide range of welfare and support services including careers advice, counselling and mental health support, and learning and study support.
We also offer support to specific groups of students who are thinking about applying to City St George’s, such as care leavers, mature learners and disabled students.
The City St George’s Students’ Union also provides a range of peer support services.
