City St George's is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion as detailed in its strategy launched in 2020.
As part of this commitment the School of Health & Psychological Sciences (SHPS) is dedicated to progressing the Athena SWAN charter framework.

School's Implementation Group
The School’s current implementation group is comprised of a diverse group of Academic, Research and Professional staff.
The group is chaired by Grace Lucas, Associate Dean of Education Quality and Student Experience and includes five subgroups addressing the School’s priorities.
Subgroup 1
This subgroup will address key priority 1 – ‘Enhance processes and infrastructure for gender equality work to make the most of collaboration and good practice and to ensure contributions to this area are consistently recognized and embedded across the School’.
Subgroup 2
This subgroup will address key priority 2 – ‘Support the development and progression of female staff in the School to address inequalities in representation at senior levels’.
Subgroup 3
This subgroup will address key priority 3 – ‘Continue to build inclusive, diverse, and supportive culture and community where staff of all genders can thrive.’
Subgroup 4
This subgroup will address key priority 4 – ‘Bolster supportive structures for all working patterns to improve equity of opportunity and mitigate the gendered impact of caring responsibilities and career breaks’.
Subgroup 5
This subgroup will address key priority 5 – ‘Address gaps in student recruitment, attainment, and progress to ensure gender equality across the student journey’.
