The Students’ Union at City St George's, University of London is a student-led organisation, independent of the University. It exists to help you make the most of your time here – socially and academically.
Whether you're based at our Clerkenwell, Moorgate, or Tooting campus, you’ll automatically become a member. During your first week, the Students’ Union will play a key role in welcoming you with events like Freshers’ Fair.
As well as organising events and supporting student societies, the Students’ Union is actively involved in student politics, lobbying on local and national policy issues.

Run for students, by students
The Union is at the heart of activity across our London campuses. It’s run by full-time student officers elected by students, as well as a team of professional staff and student volunteers.
Benefit from a range of services, from independent academic advice to neurodiversity support. If you want to get involved, why not put yourself forward as a year or course representative, to voice issues and develop leadership skills?

Social spaces on campus
Across our Clerkenwell and Moorgate campuses, we have areas where you can socialise and study. Discover our room and community space within our Student Support Hub, as well as food and drink outlets.
Some schools and departments also have their own spaces for students to catch up with coursemates, such as the Pool within the College Building that was originally built for the Olympic Games in 1908.
Almost a whole floor is devoted to the Students’ Union at our Tooting campus. You’ll find a bar that hosts club and band nights, quizzes and sports and film screenings. We also have a games room, a music room, a café, a dance studio, and wellbeing spaces.
Whatever campus you’re based at, you’ll also have access to University of London study spaces. The BLOOM@Senate House is popular with our students as it’s a great place to study together, share ideas and socialise.
Societies and Student Media
The Students’ Union supports a broad range of student-led clubs and societies, with activities including everything from extracurricular academic events to talent shows. You’ll have the chance to speak to existing members at the Freshers’ Fair during Welcome Week. And, if you can’t find a society that matches your interests, we'll help you set up your own.
Here are some of the different types of societies and clubs you can join:
- Academic: meet and network with current students, alumni and notable people from their fields through events and debates.
- Arts: the arts are well represented by musical, drama and comedy societies that produce regular shows.
- Cultural and international: meet other students from your home country or learn about other cultures, traditions, and languages.
- Faith: the Students’ Union has groups for specific faiths to meet, organise and observe their beliefs. Many of these groups work with our multi-faith Chaplaincy team to organise activities.
- Political and campaigning: these groups bring together students who are interested in a cause, party or issue. From fundraising to lobbying for change, take part in a range of activities to fuel your political thinking.
- Special interest: whatever your interests or hobbies, you’ll find a group that shares your passion. We have societies for everything from K-pop to motorsports. You can also join student media teams at Carrot Radio and Carrot Magazine to create engaging content for our community.
- Sport: many of our teams play in British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) and London Universities Sport Leagues (LUSL) cups. Fo r students based at Tooting, there is also the added competition of the historic inter-medical-school battles. If you don’t want to play competitively, you’ll find lots of casual sports sessions too.
If you’re a Tooting student, check the Students’ Union website to see which societies and clubs are based at this campus.
