Our research facilities are some of the most advanced and well supported in the world. Now your business can benefit from the same equipment and labs that drive our own research.
Learn what our different labs and facilities can do for you.
Biological Research Facility
Our Biological Research Facility offers commercial users including pharmaceutical and biotech companies, access to cutting-edge facilities, technologies and a team of experts experienced in animal models (various species) to accelerate research and development.
We have now opened a new Zebrafish Unit, and longer-term plans are being developed to expand our facilities to include small rodents. With a wide array of established zebrafish models supporting multiple therapeutic and disease areas, the facility provides a cost-effective, ethical, and high-throughput platform for drug development and discovery, toxicity screening, and genetic studies.
The zebrafish’s high genetic homology with humans, rapid development, and transparent embryos make it an ideal model for real-time, in vivo analysis. By leveraging our infrastructure and translational science mission, industrial partners can streamline preclinical workflows, reduce risk, and generate robust, reproducible data that supports faster regulatory approvals and market readiness.
Our team of dedicated licenced technicians look after the daily maintenance of all fish in the facility. This includes feeding and cleaning, larval rearing, health monitoring, embryo imports and maintenance of live food cultures. We also offer a range of additional services for our users, including assistance with experiments, provision of DNA samples for genotyping, wild-type embryo production, fixing of samples and breeding.

Imaging Resource Facility
The Imaging Resource Facility provides advanced microscopy, flow cytometry, and histology services that are highly valuable to commercial users, including biotech and pharmaceutical companies. These capabilities support applications ranging from early-stage drug discovery and preclinical research to product development and quality control.
Our microscopy platforms include a Nikon confocal microscope for high-resolution imaging of cells and organisms, an ImageXpress Pico for high-throughput screening, and a Bruker LiveCyte for comprehensive live-cell analysis. Flow cytometry, including both sorting and analytical capabilities, enables high-throughput characterisation of cell populations, biomarker expression, and functional assays.
Our full histology service provides an end-to-end workflow, from tissue processing and staining to slide digitisation, supporting human tissue, model organisms, and 3D systems such as organoids and spheroids. By offering access to state-of-the-art instrumentation and expert technical support, the facility helps industry partners accelerate innovation, generate high-quality data, and reduce the cost and time associated with developing in-house infrastructure.
