A wealth of learning resources are available through our Library Services.

A lot of the books and journals on your reading lists are made available online through the Library. However, you may be required to, or prefer to, buy your own copy of key textbooks.

If you return a Library book late you will have to pay an overdue charge. You can find more information about charges on the Library website.

Typically, coursework will be submitted online. However, should you need to use the printing, photocopying and binding facilities, you will be expected to cover the costs.

You are likely to need a computer to access most of the software and systems for your study. It is recommended that you get a laptop to help you make the most of your studies.

The cost of this will depend on the type of electronic device you use. For students on certain programmes a high-tech model may be more suitable. These are likely to be more expensive.

You can access key software for your programme remotely. When studying off campus, you will need a suitable broadband internet connection for your device.

You are expected to supply your own stationery and study/writing materials.

Before applying for a course with a placement, take time to consider the costs involved. You will typically be responsible for your own travel, accommodation and living costs unless otherwise stated.

If you decide to study abroad as part of your degree, you will be required to pay for travel, living costs, and potentially tuition fees.

Some students may encounter a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (formerly Criminal Service Bureau (CRB) check). This is required for certain jobs or voluntary work, for example working with children or in healthcare.

Depending on your programme, programme route and modules that you take there may be costs associated with professional body membership.

Additional costs may be incurred for writing up and/or bench fees if you are a Research student. This varies by School so you should contact each School directly for additional information.

As a university student you will need to budget for general living expenses, including rent, food and toiletries and travel and socialising.

Prices for accommodation vary, depending on which option you choose but please consider if your preferred option suits your budget. Please check the information on our accommodation and housing pages for information on student halls and private accommodation run by the University of London Housing Services.

You should also expect to cover the traveling costs when traveling to and from the University. Please note that students currently get 30% off on Transport for London (TfL). You can find more information on travel fares in London on the TfL website.

Average living costs can be difficult to predict, as every student will have different priorities and lifestyle choices. That is why, in addition to the information on this page, you should fully consider and research your personal likely living costs.

If going to university is your first time away from home, make sure you consider the day-to-day things you will need to buy. Besides travel and accommodation, you should consider the costs of food, phone bills, laundry, toiletries and leisure.

As a student of City St George's, University of London you are required to always carry your student ID card with you whilst on University premises.

Most ID cards are issued during the student registration process at the beginning of the academic year. These are free of charge. Subsequent replacement or reissue of student ID cards incur a charge.

As an international student there are some additional costs you will need to consider when coming to study in the UK.

If you need to arrange a Student Visa, there are costs associated with this. These include the fee for the visa, the healthcare surcharge, and further financial evidence needed as part of your visa application. Further information can be found on our visas and immigration advice pages.

You should also consider your travel costs to the United Kingdom (which will vary depending on where you are traveling from) and if you will need to purchase any items that you cannot bring with you, for example bedding.

If you wish to get involved in any sports clubs or become a member of CitySport gym, different fees will apply.

City St George Students' Union hosts a variety of student societies that you can get involved in. If you would like to join any Students' Union societies, you should expect to cover the cost of a membership fee.

Students with dependents (for example students with children or students who are carers) will have additional costs to consider, depending on your circumstances.

If you commute, you will need to pay for the cost of travel, such as purchasing a bus pass or paying for parking if you drive.

There are associated costs with your graduation ceremony at City St George's, University of London. While your ticket is free, you are expected to cover costs for your guest tickets, gown hire and photography.
