If you do not qualify for direct entry to City St George's courses, another route to studying with us may be available to you through taking a preparatory course. Provided you pass this course, meeting the agreed progression requirements you are guaranteed a place on a specific degree at City St George’s.
Preparatory courses are available either through City St George's own foundation courses or through international preparatory courses delivered by our partners institutions.
Foundation courses at City St George's
If you are a UK student looking for a route onto an undergraduate course at City St George's you could apply for a place on one of our foundation courses. Applications should be made through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS).

Preparatory courses for international students
Another study route for international students involves completing a preparatory course (also known as a pathway programme). These courses are specifically designed to meet the needs of international students and are available in a wide range of subject areas.
Three types of courses are available:
- International Foundation: leads to Year 1 of bachelor’s (undergraduate) degree.
- International Year One: leads to Year 2 of a bachelor’s (undergraduate) degree.
- Pre-Master’s: leads to a Master’s (postgraduate) degree.
Clerkenwell & Moorgate Campus
Our Clerkenwell and Moorgate campus sits in the heart of London, close to major transport links and key professional areas. It offers students a lively and well-connected setting for their studies.
City St George’s, University of London International Study Centre
City St George’s, University of London International Study Centre is a joint venture between City St George’s, University of London and INTO University Partnerships. Located near to Liverpool Street Station in the heart of London's financial district, the International Study Centre offers a range of International Foundation, International Year One and Pre-Masters courses.
These courses are validated by City St George’s, which provides assurance of the quality and standards of education. When you join the International Study Centre, you are also a City St George’s student from day one, which means you’ll have access to a wide range of support services and facilities at City St George’s.
In addition, international students can enroll on the International Year One in Finance. This is an iCAS (integrated Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) programme, allowing you to complete your pathway and degree with one CAS – and you won’t need to renew your visa for the duration of your studies.
Your first year will be co-delivered by the International Study Centre and our Bayes Business School. Progression to Year 2 of one of three finance degrees in Bayes Business School is guaranteed, subject to you meeting the required progression requirements.
Kaplan International Pathways
City St George's has a longstanding partnership with Kaplan International Pathways. International students can study a range of foundation certificates and pre-masters courses at Kaplan International College London and via Kaplan International Pathways Digital.
These courses equip students with the English language level, academic skills and key subject knowledge needed for an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at City St George’s and when you successfully pass the programme at the required level, you’re guaranteed entry to your chosen course at City St George’s.
International students can also gain entry to onto the second year of a degree at City St George’s through Kaplan’s International Year One (IYO) in Engineering. Delivered at Kaplan International College London, the IYO combines core subject modules in mathematics, engineering principles, and programming, as well as focused academic skills and English language development.
Progression to Year 2 of one of four courses in our School of Science and Technology is guaranteed, subject to you meeting the required progression requirements.
Other international pathway programmes
City St George’s, Clerkenwell & Moorgate Campus also recognises preparatory courses form a number of other providers, including OnCampus, David Game College, CATS Colleges and Kings Colleges. Applications from students at these institutions are considered on a case-by-case basis.
Tooting Campus – School of Health and Medical Science
City, St George’s, Tooting Campus, School of Health and Medical Science works with a number of UK pathway providers to offer an pathway international students looking to progress on to a degree in health or life sciences.
