Alongside our historic strengths, we are proud to be at the forefront of research and teaching in emerging fields such as cyber security, machine learning, and biomedical engineering.

The School is located in a unique part of London, where the City of London, Tech City and the design hub of Clerkenwell intersect, giving our students unrivalled access to global organisations and creative start-ups from sectors including finance, banking, computing, software development, engineering and technology.

This location gives our students great opportunities to gain work experience, network and develop their careers in one of the most exciting parts of the capital. We maintain close relationships with industry and the School’s long-standing Corporate Relations & Employability Unit works with companies to provide placements and internships for our students.

City St George's, University of London has a strong, vibrant and international alumni network, with many of our graduates taking leading posts in these local businesses.

From summer 2022 the School became the School of Science & Technology (having previously been known as the School of Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering). As part of these changes, the three separate Engineering departments - Civil, Electrical and Electronic, and Mechanical and Aeronautical - were merged into a single department, enabling us to offer a more diverse range of Engineering degrees.

The School holds a Bronze Athena Swan award in recognition of its commitment to progress gender equality.

With a proud history of educating students for more than 120 years, today the School is home to over 1,900 undergraduate students, 600 postgraduate taught students, 300 research students, 40 research staff, 115 academic staff and 60 professional support staff.
