Executive Vice President of the International Fintech Institute at GIFT City visited City St George’s to discuss future collaboration.

On Friday 7 August, City St George’s, University of London welcomed to campus Professor Kasivisvanathan Chelvakumar, Executive Vice President of  the International FinTech Institute at GIFT City and Professor of Practice, Finance and Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar.

Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) is India's first operational greenfield smart city and international financial services centre (IFSC), aiming to become a global hub for financial and professional services by offering a unique ecosystem with a focus on global markets, tax benefits, and streamlined processes.

Professor Chelvakumar was received by Dr Sionade Robinson, Vice-President (Enterprise, Engagement & Employability), Professor Raj Rajaran, Director of the Institute for Cyber Security, Dr Veselin Rakocevic, Associate Dean for International Collaboration and Student Recruitment at the School of Science & Technology, and Mark Hertlein, Head of Global Engagement at the University.

They discussed collaborative opportunities and identified a range of research and educational initiatives City St Georges and the International FinTech Institute can work on together in the areas of fintech and data science.

Reflecting on the visit, Professor Rajarajan shared:

We discussed our future collaboration and, through a partnership plan, the  offer short courses to banking professionals to upskill in fintech.

"Additionally, we are looking at ways faculty can be exchanged to cross fertilise fintech knowledge and skills between India and UK.
