Mark Hertlein

I have over 25 year’s professional experience in Higher Education. Over this time I have worked at a number of UK universities, in a number of different areas. A common feature of these roles has been the management of partnerships with educational providers both within the UK and overseas.

Prior to joining City St George's in April 2015 I spent six years at the University of London where I worked as a Senior Manager (Institutions and Global Development). This post provided me with a thorough understanding of both transnational education and those countries that I was directly responsible for. Although a number of the posts I have held have been international in focus, I have also held posts in the area of widening participation/ access.

As a way of furthering my understanding of International Higher Education I am enrolled on the University of Bath’s DBA in Higher Education Management.

As Head of Global Engagement I provide day to day management of the Office for Global Engagement and am responsible for ensuring City St George's approach to global engagement is informed, coordinated and contributes to the University’s strategic vision.

This involves working closely with the Vice Presidents for Education and Enterprise, Engagement and Employability and senior colleagues within City St George's Schools and Professional Services. It also involves representing City St George's on various external networks, including serving as Chair of the London Higher International network.
