In celebration of this year’s International Men’s Day theme, “Making a positive difference to the wellbeing and lives of men and boys”, the School of Health and Medical Sciences is hosting a special panel discussion on Black Men’s Health.
About the event
The panel will feature guest speakers Dr Brenda Hayanga, Leon Marshall, Dr Melissa Butler, and City St George’s, University of London Associate Professors Dr Raheelah Ahmad, Dr Ohemaa Nkansa-Dwamena, Michelle Ellis, along with PhD student Rishabh Jain.
Each panellist will explore two key questions:
- What is working well?
- What more needs to be done?
Topics will include mental health, unhealthy weight, drug-resistant infections, and cancer prevention and treatment. The discussion will also highlight community-led initiatives, such as the Lambeth Public Health programme co-developed with voluntary services including The Black Men’s Consortium.
