New campaign showcases the research, education and people shaping the future of health and wellbeing across the School.

The School of Health & Medical Sciences at City St George’s, University of London has launched ‘In Our DNA’, a new campaign and series of videos that showcase the School’s research, education and community.
Following the merger in 2024 to bring together two long-established legacy institutions (City, University of London and St George’s, University of London), the campaign celebrates the achievements and contributions of the staff, students and alumni who are advancing the future of health and wellbeing for all.
The School has a strong tradition of excellence in education, from healthcare and medicine to psychology and food policy. With over 250 years of experience in medical training and more than 140 years in nursing education, we are a leading provider of education in the fields of healthcare, medicine and psychology. We have a breadth of expertise across diverse disciplines, which includes departments specialising in allied health, interprofessional healthcare, medicine, molecular and biomedical sciences, nursing and midwifery, optometry and visual science, population health and policy, psychology and neuroscience.
The location of our Tooting campus within St George’s hospital – the largest in London – and our strong connections with NHS trusts and partners across London and the South-East, allow us to provide invaluable hands-on teaching and learning experiences to our students while bringing care to the local community.
As one of the largest suppliers of the health workforce in the capital, with extensive expertise and strong partnerships across NHS trusts and the wider health sector, the School of Health & Medical Sciences (SHMS) is uniquely positioned to lead the way in driving innovation in health and wellbeing. This provides a strong foundation for supporting the NHS in delivering its 10-Year Health Plan, including the strategic shifts from hospital to community care, analogue to digital services, and sickness to prevention.
'In Our DNA’, which showcases the achievements of our community and celebrates our work across education and research, reflects these shifts to transform health and wellbeing and support a more modern and innovative NHS.

Our research
From developing new approaches to Parkinson’s and prostate cancer diagnoses to exploring how glaucoma care could be delivered closer to home and investigating the forces that shape what we eat, the six research videos in the ‘In Our DNA’ series showcase the wide range of work taking place across SHMS.
