The School of Health & Medical Sciences took science to the pub for Pint of Science 2025, sharing groundbreaking health research with the Tooting community over three lively nights at The Selkirk.

This May, Pint of Science returned to The Selkirk Pub in Tooting — and it was an absolute hit!
Across the UK, this global festival brings scientists out of the lab and into your local pub to talk real research with real people. We were proud to represent City St George’s, School of Health and Medical Sciences once again, showing off the incredible work happening right here in Tooting.
Over three exciting nights (19–21 May 2025), we explored this year’s theme — Our Body - through talks that were as thought-provoking as they were pint-worthy:
- Unfair World – tackling health inequality with Batul Rojeab Bravo and Sungmin Cho, hosted by Millie Williams-Walker.
- Seeing the Unseen – shining a light on rare health conditions with Andisheh Niakan, Alex Yang, and Gina Abdelaal, hosted by Hamin Lee.
- Drugs vs Bugs – exploring the fight against drug-resistant infections, featuring Lorena Symes, Amie Griffin, Hamin Lee, Daryl Weatherley, and Declan Crilly, hosted by Batul Rojeab Bravo.
The atmosphere was lively, the talks were thought-provoking and informative, and the audience stayed engaged throughout each evening - proof that science and pints are a perfect match!
