Record numbers of students attended Welcome events which kicked off with the Big Hello during Welcome Week on Monday 23 September. Events, talks and activities have continued to take place throughout October to support students in settling into university life.
The Big Hello saw 2,200 students join teams from City St George’s and its partners to find out information on support available for learning, health, wellbeing, careers and more.
The City St George’s Students’ Union Fresher’s Fair had 5445 students in attendance. The Fresher’s Fair brought together societies, clubs, university services and student brands to provide students an opportunity to build community and find out about the support available to them.
Students across the University’s schools also attended meet and greets with school deans, organised by the Students’ Union in collaboration with schools, with 220 students attending the Bayes Business School event and 217 people joining The City Law School event.
Over 1,000 students attended the Welcome Week at Tooting campus and over 1,000 City St George’s students signed up for sports membership.
Commenting on the successful welcome, Professor Susannah Quinsee, Vice-President (Digital and Student Experience), said:
"It has been fantastic to welcome our new and returning students back to our campuses over the past few weeks. The opening of the Student Support Hub at Clerkenwell has made a real difference to our on-campus experience for students by providing easy access to a range of support services. The hub is the ideal space to study or relax with other students.
The newly opened £12 million Student Support Hub, located in the Drysdale Building, is City St George’s primary location for students to access central support in Clerkenwell.
Students can visit support services at the hub for academic and digital advice and support with accommodation, health and wellbeing, careers, accommodation and more.
