We are excited to welcome students, staff, professionals and the public to the ninth London Student Sustainability Conference LSSC27.
The London Student Sustainability Conference (LSSC) is a student-led initiative bringing together students from across London universities to explore sustainability across disciplines, share ideas, and drive meaningful change.
Open to all participating universities, LSSC provides a platform for students to present projects, research, and solutions tackling environmental and social challenges, guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
We are pleased to announce that this year’s London Student Sustainability Conference is a collaboration between the following partnering London universities:

Key dates
- Conference date: 24th Feburary 2027
- Application opens for student to join the steering group open on the 5th October and close on the 18th October
- Application opens for verbal presentations, creatives and academic posters: 23rd September 2026
- Application deadline for verbal presentations, creatives and academic posters: 23rd November 2026
- Training sessions for verbal and poster presentations: 11th January 2027
This year’s exciting London student sustainability conference will be held at the University of West London on Wednesday, 24th February 2027 followed by a networking event. All presentations will also be available to live stream for those attending online.

You can apply to both presentation and poster. However we can only offer one spot to showcase your work. Find out more about the Application guidelines.

Students will showcase:

- 5 minutes of Q&A

Top applicants will win an opportunity to present at the Student Sustainability Research Conference (SSRC) on Wednesday, 3rd March 2026, at the University of Leeds.
Posters
Posters are an excellent way to share your research or project in a clear, visually engaging format.
They will be:
- Displayed at the Conference
- Featured during lunch and the networking event
- Showcased online.

Creative
We welcome students who would like to present their work through a creative medium, e.g.:
- Documentary
- Film
- Games
- Photo series
- Poetry
Unfortunately, the Conference cannot fund or provide materials for creative projects and participants will need to provide all materials and arrange delivery, set-up, and removal on the day.
Volunteer

There are two ways you can take part:
Day role volunteers
- Support registration, signing people into the Conference
- Be a way finder and help navigate students around the university
- Be Session Chair and support the running of student presentations

Sit on the Steering Group
We're looking for up to five students to join the London Student Sustainability Conference (LSSC) Steering Group and play an active role in planning and delivering LSSC 2027. As a member of the Steering Group, you'll work alongside university colleagues, contribute ideas, and help make key decisions that influence the conference.
Successful applicants will become full members of the LSSC Steering Group, attending monthly meetings throughout the planning process (Oct-Feb) and contributing to discussions and decisions that help guide the conference.

Questions from attendees
Can I attend if I am not studying sustainability?
Yes. The conference is open to anyone interested in the topic, regardless of their area of study.
Can I attend only part of the conference?
We strongly encourage attendees to stay for the full conference so that you can gain the most value, make connections and take away useful insights.
Will I receive a certificate of attendance?
Yes. Everyone who attends will receive a certificate of attendance.
Will the presentation slides or other resources be shared afterwards?
No. Presentation slides and resources will not be shared after the conference.
Can I move between sessions freely?
Once a session has started, you will need to remain for all three presentations before moving to another session.
How long will each presentation last?
Each presentation will last 10 minutes, followed by a five-minute question-and-answer session.
What time should I arrive?
Please arrive by 9.45am.
When will tickets be available?
Tickets will be made available in 2027, follow LSSC on Linkedin and Instagram to be informed of release dates.

How do I apply?

Will I receive a certificate?
Applicants who are successfully awarded a place will receive a certificate after attending the conference.
When will I hear if I am successful?
All responses to applications will be sent on the 9th December 2026.
What if I miss the deadline for applying?
Unfortunately, we are unable to accepct any applications after the deadline
What if I miss the deadline for submitting my powerpoint?
To keep the conference programme on schedule, all presentation information must be submitted by the stated deadline. Unfortunately, if we do not receive your information on time, we may be unable to include you as a presenter.
What if I miss the deadline for submitting my poster?
To ensure all posters can be reviewed and prepared for the conference, they must be submitted by the published deadline. Unfortunately, late submissions cannot be guaranteed a place in the conference.
I can’t make the training session, will it be recorded?
Yes, the training session will be recorded and shared afterwards
What time should I arrive?
Please arrive by 9.30am.
I can’t make the support surgery for presenters and posters, will it be recorded?
Yes, the surgery will be recorded and shared afterwards

Yes. The conference is open to everyone who is interested in learning more about sustainability, regardless of their level of knowledge or experience.
