For this seminar, we will be joined by Dr Rosie Benson who will be discussing her role in establishing VITA Training, a clinician-led organisation helping equip healthcare professionals to respond to human trafficking, slavery and exploitation.
Dr Rosie Benson is a salaried and Out-of-Hours GP based in Exeter. Rosie founded VITA Foundation, a clinician-led charity which has since delivered specialist human trafficking and exploitation safeguarding training to over 2,500 frontline NHS healthcare professionals, while shaping how wider national and international systems and services respond.
VITA has influenced national modern slavery policy, authoring national guidance for the Royal Colleges, publishing training with NHS England for all NHS safeguarding leads on safe and strategic leadership in managing cases, and helping shape postgraduate medical curricula. More recently, VITA contributed to the first-ever UNODC Global Forum on Human Trafficking and to UNODC Expert Consultations on Victim Protection in Vienna, providing paediatric expertise to the forthcoming UNODC victim protection toolkit for criminal justice practitioners.
