Abstract
Artificial Intelligence is rapidly transforming the way engineers design, analyze, and innovate. MATLAB provides an accessible pathway to harness the power of machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, and emerging agentic AI technologies.
While these capabilities can appear complex, MATLAB's intuitive environment and integrated toolchain enable engineers and researchers to develop, evaluate, and deploy AI solutions with confidence. From generating code and insights with AI assistants to building intelligent agents that can automate decision-making and accelerate workflows, MATLAB helps bridge the gap between cutting-edge AI research and practical engineering applications.
In this talk, we will explore how MATLAB streamlines the journey from concept to deployment, making advanced AI technologies approachable for users at all levels. We will also showcase inspiring examples from industry and academia, highlighting how engineers are using AI to solve real-world challenges in areas such as autonomous systems, healthcare, sustainability, communications, and product development.
Attendees will discover how generative and agentic AI are reshaping engineering workflows and learn how MATLAB can help turn AI-driven ideas into tangible, real-world impact.
About the speaker
Dr. Martina Sciola has been working at MathWorks since 2018 as an Academic Application Engineer for Education. Her role is to support and collaborate with universities using MATLAB and Simulink for their teaching and research.
Prior to joining MathWorks, Martina completed her PhD on personalised cardiovascular modelling at the University of Sheffield. She also worked as a research associate for the diagnosis of Pulmonary Hypertension and as a research coordinator for an EU project to establish a new centre of excellence in medicine at the University of Sheffield.
