Irene Revell leads a field trip titled You look at a score, you do it, to conclude the 2026 SPARC Symposium.
During this event, we will explore, through group reading, discussion, negation and performance, a specially selected collection of scores for listening and walking—in turn using these “live materials” to guide us through Walthamstow Wetlands. This workshop draws on my ongoing research into contemporary and historical text scores and the title is taken from an interview with Annea Lockwood where she describes the kinds of scores she and her friends were writing in 1970s New York.

About Irene Revell
Irene Revell is a researcher, curator and serial collaborator. She currently Co-Leads the Scoring Warnings research project at CRiSAP where she is a Senior Lecturer in Sound Research, and she also teaches on the MFA Curating at Goldsmiths. With Sarah Shin she co-edited the anthology book project Bodies of Sound: Becoming a feminist ear (Silver Press, 2024), now an eponymous and growing book series for Spiral House.
