Abstract
Geovation, an initiative supported by Ordnance Survey, works closely with startups to tackle both local and global problems through the creative and effective use of data. In this session, we will explore how Geovation supports emerging businesses, showcase real-world success stories, and highlight the types of data that drive innovation.
The seminar will also include a demonstration of how Ordnance Survey utilizes modern technologies such as Databricks and data lake architectures to manage and extract value from location data.
In addition, attendees will gain practical insights into starting a new business, including common challenges and how to overcome them.

Wayne Newton – Insight Manager, Geovation
Wayne leads insight generation within the Geovation community, identifying key trends and ensuring impactful outcomes. He recently completed his MBA at Solent University.
Arias Jordens – Senior Developer, Geovation
Arias is part of the incubation team, supporting startups in the GeoTech and PropTech sectors. With over five years of experience at Ordnance Survey, he brings expertise in field surveying, data architecture, and data science.
