Ian Pace has a long-standing relationship with the music of Christopher Fox. His first CD to be released, More Light, in 1998, was of Fox’s piano music, and was the first full disc of Fox’s work, and in the same year he gave a concert series in London organised around Fox’s piano works, as well as premiering the works Prime Site (1997) and schwärme (1998-99), both written for him.
This programme celebrates Fox’s work in the year of his 70th birthday, and was chosen in collaboration between composer and performer. It features both works written for Ian, as well as a range of other music in some sense related to Fox’s music, and concludes with his beautiful More Light, his first extended piano work, named after Goethe’s dying words.
