For this seminar, we will be joined by Professor Kamal Mahtani and Dr Georgette Eaton to explore the emergent roles of paramedics in primary care including their recent research in this field.
Professor Kamal Mahtani is a practicing GP and Professor of Evidence Based healthcare. He is an active researcher, and leads programmes of research on understanding, evaluating and improving primary care services, including innovations and workforce changes. He dedicates considerable time to capacity building, including developing the next generation of healthcare leaders and academics. However, his most important roles are as a dad and husband.
Dr Georgette Eaton is a Consultant Paramedic in Urgent and Emergency Care at South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust and Clinical Researcher at University of Oxford.
She completed an NIHR Doctoral Research Fellowship exploring the impact of paramedics in NHS primary care using realist approaches to improving understanding, support intelligent policy and make recommendations for future workforce planning.
Using evidence from this work, she has worked with various stakeholders to produce a Toolkit for Paramedics working in Primary Care. She is also Deputy Editor of Paramedicine, a paramedic-led, international peer-reviewed open access journal.
