Curious about AI in education? Join us for an informal drop-in where you can try practical AI tools, explore ideas for teaching and assessment, and speak with colleagues already working in this area. Whether you are just getting started or experimenting with AI yourself, come along, ask questions and see what is possible.
The School of Health & Medical Sciences AI in Education Drop-In is an informal event for academic and professional staff interested in the opportunities and challenges of generative AI in teaching, learning, assessment and curriculum development.
Rather than a traditional workshop or programme of talks, the event will feature small stations and practical showcases that colleagues can visit at their own pace. Drop in for ten minutes or stay longer: try examples, ask questions and discuss how AI might relate to your own educational practice. No previous AI experience is needed.
Topics are expected to include practical uses of AI in teaching, assessment and feedback; reviewing assessment design in an AI-enabled environment; digital literacy; engaging critically with academic literature; and responsible use, including University guidance, approved tools and governance. Contributors from SHMS and relevant University teams will share educational projects, demonstrations and experiences, with opportunities for one-to-one conversations.
Have an idea for using AI in a module but are unsure where to start? Wondering how generative AI affects an existing written assessment? Or simply curious about what colleagues are doing? Come along with a question, a challenge or a teaching idea.
The event is aimed primarily at School of Health & Medical Sciences staff, including colleagues based at Tooting and Clerkenwell. There is no need to attend for the full four hours; visit whichever stations interest you.
