Overview
Modern Finance Science and Education are profoundly broken, and need urgent repair. The knowledge and the institutions, the laws and the practices, influence the lives of billions of people, shaping the deep inequality, public health crisis and climate change today.
Most reactions and responses are just that – re-actions. What is urgently needed is a rewriting of the science and textbooks such that equality, morality, compassion, bio-diversity and the environment are placed front and centre.
This new book will explain what is the cultural nature of money, and how its knowledge and training can be transformed to build a caring, fair and harmonious planet and society.
London is a pre-eminent laboratory of modern finance – banking, insurance, financial regulation, stock markets, securities and derivatives – were often invented here.
The breakdown of financial morality can be repaired by transforming our gaze to the living cultures and communities who have developed alternative systems of finance, accounting and charity, which build sustainable societies. The event will be inter-disciplinary and inter-faith in its coverage.
The event will engage diverse communities and professionals from these cultures and backgrounds, helping the University to show its respect for these minorities.
