GBSR Duo comprises two of the UK's finest young contemporary chamber instrumentalists, George Barton (percussion) and Siwan Rhys (piano). The duo has built its reputation on a combination of exceptional interpretations of the existing piano-percussion repertoire, committed performances of ambitious new commissions, and inventive collaborations. What happens when they join forces with SPARC Lab’s 3-D sound? From Angharad Davies's study of overwhelm Empty Spaces II, to Aaron Einbond's Prestidigitation, using spatial microphony to place the audience inside a circle of developing chimes and rattles, to Claudia Molitor’s In den Träumen, eliciting from the performer both mechanical precision and dreamlike improvisation inside-and-out of the piano, this concert promises to be a unique and immersive experience.

4-6pm Workshop

Prior to the performance, GBSR Duo give an insider view of performing immersive sound live: the duo will present hands-on demonstrations of the instruments, techniques, technologies, and aesthetics that go into producing this evening’s concert event with 3-D sound.
