What makes the Medical Ethics, Law and Humanities MA special?
This course stands out for its focus on both the history and future of medicine. You will be introduced to different methods of medical humanities and how they can be used to look at areas like the doctor-patient relationship and experiences of illness. At the same time, you’ll explore key ethical and legal issues and underlying concepts in professional practice.
Who is the course for?
You might be a recent graduate in a related field, a medical student looking to intercalate, or a healthcare professional interested in this area. Alternatively, you may see this degree as a stepping stone into law or further academic work.
Who is the presenter?
Dr Anna Pacholczyk is a Senior Lecturer in Medical Ethics at City St George’s, University of London. She specializes in bioethics and neuroethics. She is a Lead for Medical Ethics and Law for the MBBS medical programme in the Medical School and leads undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in ethics and medicine as module lead and course deputy director. Her main field of research interest is ethics and new technologies in medicine (e.g. ethics of brain stimulation, human enhancement, ethical issues surrounding the use and development of human brain organoids).
Attending the webinar
To attend the webinar, you will need an internet connection for the device you're using, ideally a computer or laptop to view the event, and speakers or headphones to listen in to the event. Attendees will be able to type in questions to submit during the event, but will not be able to share a webcam or speak to other attendees (so you won't need a webcam or a microphone).
