Applicants to the MA International Journalism are invited to apply for a £6,000 bursary towards living costs.
The Richard Beeston Bursary will support an International student on the Master’s in International Journalism course at City St George's, University of London.
Established in memory of the distinguished foreign editor of The Times, Richard Beeston this will provide a student with a £6,000 bursary towards living costs.
Criteria and eligibility
Open to any student from overseas with an offer for the MA International Journalism course for academic year 2026/27.
How to apply
Please submit a 500 word essay to scc-scholarships@city.ac.uk on the following topic:
“How has the framing of recent geopolitical crises in your country or region by international correspondents influenced your decision to study international journalism?”
Please include personal reflections of how foreign correspondents impact the news ecosystem within your home country.
Please include 'BEESTON Bursary' in the email subject header.
Application deadline
8 June 2026 at 5pm UK time.
Interviews will take place online at the end of June.
Other information
The name of the bursary recipient will be shared with the donors.
The recipient will be required to submit a one page annual report at the end of the academic year which will be sent to the donors.
The recipient may be asked to provide a testimonial on the impact the bursary has made.
