Change Makers is a philanthropically funded initiative offering scholarships and bursaries to UK-based students with home fee status from underrepresented backgrounds. This programme supports those aspiring to pursue an MA in Podcasting or Broadcast Journalism. There are two awards available for the 2026/7 academic year: the Spotify Podcast Scholarship and the Goalhanger Podcasts Bursary.
Goalhanger Podcasts Bursary
Goalhanger Podcasts are funding a bursary of £5,000 for one student on either the MA Podcasting or MA Broadcast Journalism course who meets the following criteria:
- Hold an unconditional offer for the MA Podcasting or MA Broadcast Journalism at City St George's, University of London for the 2026/27 academic year
- For applicants on MA Broadcast Journalism you must also confirm that you will opt for the podcasting elective
- Be able to demonstrate financial need through production of a case for support
- Available to UK-based students with home fee status.
Spotify Podcast Scholarship
Funded by the Spotify Creator Equity Fund which was set up to promote diversity and inclusivity for artists and creators.
The scholarship of £25,000 will cover full tuition fees and living costs for one student who meets the following criteria:
- Hold an unconditional offer for the MA Podcasting at City St George's, University of London for the 2026/27 academic year
- Come from an underrepresented community (this includes but is not limited to: race, ethnicity, physical ability and socio-economic status)
- Be able to demonstrate financial need through production of a case for support
- Available to UK-based students with home fee status.

Please submit a 600-word essay outlining your financial situation and why you wish to pursue a career in podcasting.

The successful applicant will be notified by Monday 20 July 2026.
Other information
The name of the award recipient will be shared with the donor.
The recipient will be required to submit an end of year update which will be sent to the donor.
The recipient may be asked to provide a testimonial on the impact the award has made.
