Commercial Dance BA (Hons) degree Course overview
Our Urdang BA (Hons) Commercial Dance blends high-level technical training with insight into performance and industry practice.
Based in London, the course blends daily studio training with professional development in audition craft, choreography, branding and performance for stage and screen.
You will benefit from guest workshops, agency collaborations and industry-facing modules that prepare you for real audition environments.

Structure
Course content
Year 1 – Foundations
Build strong technique across commercial, jazz, street and contemporary. Develop conditioning and acrobatics, learn choreography and contextual studies, and perform in your first project.
Year 2 – Development
Advance performance and audition skills, explore stage and screen work including self-taping, and gain insight into industry practice. Work as part of a company project and broaden your versatility with commercial musical theatre.
Year 3 – Professional launch
Showcase your individuality through a major project and industry performance. Refine audition craft with professionals, strengthen your personal brand, and prepare a professional portfolio for agents, casting directors and employers.

Teaching and assessment
Assessment methods
You will train intensively in the studio with daily classes, rehearsals and performance projects. Learning is supported by lectures, seminars, tutorials and workshops with industry guests.
Assessment is mainly through practical performance, projects and digital submissions, with some written and reflective work.
You’ll receive continuous feedback in class as well as structured feedback on assessments to support your development.

How to apply
Please read carefully the application and audition process for this course. You will be required to audition alongside submitting a UCAS application.
UK-based applicants (inc non-UK/ROI passport holders) audition in-person and international-based applicants can attend in-person OR submit a video audition.
You can apply to up to five universities or institutions on the form. The UCAS code for City, University of London is C60.
Please take care to enter the correct course code when applying, particularly for subjects with a Foundation year or with BEng (Hons) and MEng (Hons) or BSc (Hons) and MSci (Hons) options.
