Leadership, Management and Innovation in Public Health, Health, and Social Care Course overview
This module aims to further develop the leadership and management competencies of qualified health and social care professionals. Throughout this module you will critically analyse theories underlying effective and efficient leadership, management and innovation development and implementation. You will have the opportunity to apply module content to plan your own practice innovation development relevant to your specialist area of practice.
Who is it for?
This course is designed for registered nurses, midwives, and allied health professionals seeking to enhance their understanding of contemporary leadership, management, innovation, and change theories. It focuses on their practical application to drive advancements in public health, healthcare, and social care.

* Critically evaluate the synergy between leadership and management roles.
* Critically appraise and evaluate your own strategic decision-making ability, management competencies and approach to leadership to improve and develop health, social care, and public health practice.
* Critically evaluate and synthesise contemporary research regarding traditional leadership, management and change theories in health, social care and public health and argue alternative contemporary approaches.
* Demonstrate competence in the preparation and delivery of information pertaining to the implementation of an innovation project.

Assessment and certificates
Assessment
Summative:
The assessment for this module consists of one part. You are required to deliver a 20-minute presentation in which you outline a proposed innovation pertinent to your specialist area of practice. Within the presentation, you are required to critically apply contemporary leadership, management and change theory to evidence the implementation of the proposed innovation.
Formative:
The formative assessment for this module is a 5-minute presentation in which students share their innovation ideas and receive feedback from their peers and a representative from the module teaching team.
Certificates
This module is core for students studying the MSc/PgDip Public Health and Specialist Community Nursing Programme (Community Children’s Nursing. Community Nursing in Health and Social Care, District Nursing, General Practice Nursing, Health Visiting and School Nursing Pathways)
Transfer course credits towards postgraduate taught degree
Alternatively, As a health and/or social care professional, once you've completed this module you could offset 15 credits as part of a postgraduate programme, continuing your study with further modules to make up a Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) 60 credits, Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) 120 credits or Master of Science (MSc) 180 credits qualification (all credits must be awarded within five years of study commencing).

Eligibility
You must be registered in the United Kingdom as a nurse, midwife or allied health professional.
English requirements
If your first language is not English, one of the following is required:
A first degree from a UK university
A first degree from an overseas institution recognised by City, University of London as providing adequate evidence of proficiency in the English language, for example, from institutions from Australia, Canada or the United States of America.
International English Language Test Service (IELTS) a score of 7.0 is required with no subtest below 7.0
Pearson Test of English (Academic) score 72 required
TOEFL 100 overall with 24 in Writing, 20 in Listening, 19 Reading and 20 Speaking
Other evidence of proficiency in the English language, which satisfies the board of studies concerned, including registration with your professional regulator.

For those students whose first language is not English the following qualification is also required:
