Taking a broad historical and analytical view, our Leadership and Management course draws on the key principles of 21^st Century management and applies them to real-world management scenarios, for both the large and small business.

You will learn theoretical perspectives and practical tips to succeed in today's performance-driven job market, including organisation, motivation, teamwork, ethics and personal development.

This management and leadership course enables you to make positive decisions, gain the respect of your colleagues and contribute more through effective direction.

This leadership and management course is ideal if you are a newly appointed, or aspiring manager with new responsibilities or if you are an experienced professional taking your first role in general management.

Timetable

The Leadership and Management short course takes place once a week at 18:30 for 10 weeks.

City St George’s Short Courses follow the academic year, delivering courses over three terms. These include:

Over the course of 10 weekly evening classes on the Leadership and Management course, you will improve your grasp of:

• The concept of 'the reflective performer' using self-appraisal and target-setting for continuous improvement

• History of management theory
• Designing the structure of a company to suit the needs of the business
• How to create a diverse culture in an organisation
• Techniques to build on your 'Expert Power'
• Developing and creating a successful change programme
• Team dynamics to resolving group conflicts
• Key leadership theories and models
• Managing stress and building business networks
• Ethical issues involved in leadership practices.

This is a highly interactive course combines workshops, group work and discussion to, exploring key leadership and management theories - prepare to be challenged - and to challenge.

Informal assessment will take place through group discussion and class-room activities as guided by your tutor.

Personal and group feedback from your tutor will help you to build on your strengths and address your improvement opportunities.

There is no formal assessment and you are not given any formal qualifications on completion of the course. However, if you attend 70 percent of the classes you will be awarded an official City St George’s, University of London certificate.

We do not ask for any qualifications to enrol in this course, only an enthusiasm for learning and a genuine interest in the subject area.
