UK

In accordance with NMC and University requirements, in order to be eligible for entry in to the programme, applicants are required to meet the following entry requirements:

• Applicants will have a second class or above (2:2 classification) honours degree in a relevant subject from an approved higher education institution. Clinically experienced, health professionals without a degree who have evidence of master’s level CPPD (level 7) study undertaken within the last five years will also be considered.
• Confirmation that you hold a current and satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
• Confirmation that either your employing organisation will support you to undertake the course and/or alternatively if you are self-funded/employed that you have access to:
  • protected time to attend scheduled study and assessment days and engage in guided study activities set by the university.
  • Access to a suitable SCPHN or SPQ Specialist Practice and Prescribing (where applicable) placement/s that can provide the required supervised period of learning/learning opportunities.
  • Protected time to engage in practice development activities with an identified Practice Assessor/s and Practice Supervisor/s who meet the required eligibility criteria to undertake the role.

Pathway specific criteria:

SCPHN

• Current NMC registered nurse (level 1) or NMC registered midwife capable of safe and effective practice at the level of proficiency appropriate to the NMC approved specialist community public health nurse (SCPHN) programme.

SPQ

• Current NMC registered nurse (level 1) with relevant professional registration, capable of safe and effective practice at the level of proficiency appropriate to the NMC approved community nursing specialist practice qualification (SPQ).
• Registration with the NMC for a minimum period of 1 year prior to application.

Applications to the programme will be welcomed from applicants who are sponsored by either the NHS, private and/or third sector Health and Social Care organisations.
