The University has welcomed CaSE to its campus, strengthening a shared commitment to champion UK research, innovation and collaboration across science and engineering
City St George’s, University of London is proud to welcome the Campaign for Science and Engineering (CaSE) into its academic community, strengthening a longstanding partnership through a new hosting arrangement that sees CaSE take up residence on City St George’s campus.
This collaboration represents a common goal of advancing the UK’s research and innovation landscape, and to fostering meaningful connections between institutions that drive the future of science, technology, and engineering.
CaSE is the leading independent voice for UK research and development (R&D). As a charitable organisation, it is supported by a broad and diverse membership that includes universities, businesses, professional bodies, research charities, and individual experts. Together, these members represent the full spectrum of R&D – from fundamental discovery science to applied innovation – across the public, private, and charitable sectors.
CaSE works collaboratively with its members, policymakers, and the wider public to provide expert insight and evidence that inform national decisions on R&D investment and policy. Its approach is non-partisan, constructive, and solution-focused, with a clear aim: to ensure research and innovation thrive for the benefit of society, the economy, and everyday life.
City St George’s has been an active CaSE member since 2015, and this new hosting arrangement marks an exciting step forward in that relationship. By providing dedicated office space within the University’s Gloucester Building, access to facilities, and opportunities for collaboration, City St George's is helping to support CaSE’s mission within a vibrant academic environment that reflects both organisations’ shared values and ambitions.
Dr Alicia Greated, Executive Director of CaSE, said:
“I am delighted that CaSE have found a new home at City St George’s. The University is a long-running CaSE member, having joined in 2015. This support over many years has been invaluable in helping us achieve our charitable objectives, and we are so grateful that the connection between our organisations has now become even stronger.
“I would like to offer a heartfelt thank you from CaSE to all at City St George’s. We are looking forward to utilising fully the amazing spaces the University has to offer for our events and meetings.”
The timing of this move is particularly resonant. CaSE is preparing to mark its 40th anniversary in 2026 and has a packed agenda of work ahead.
Dr Greated added:
“CaSE has many exciting projects planned for the coming years including: continuing to lead the way in including the public as part of the conversation about R&D through our landmark public attitudes to R&D research and exploring how to better integrate public perspectives into our policy development process; our scrutiny of public policy that impacts R&D, such as the Spending Review and Industrial Strategy this summer; and a wide-ranging look at what the future of UK R&D may look like, centred around the 40th anniversary of CaSE next year.”
This new chapter at City St George’s offers CaSE a dynamic base from which to deliver its vital work, convene thought leaders, and host events that shape the national conversation on science and engineering. It also opens new pathways for partnership, enabling the University and CaSE to work more closely together in promoting research excellence, innovation, and impact across the UK.
