Presenter: Dr Dan Osborn (Deputy Course Director)
What makes the Biomedical Science MRes special?
The Biomedical Sciences MRes is awarded to students who can demonstrate a systematic understanding and critical awareness of problems at the forefront of research in their academic discipline. Over the year-long course, you will develop a comprehensive understanding of cutting edge techniques used to answer specific research questions.
Who is the course for?
The MRes differs from an MSc in that it involves a substantial amount of laboratory work working alongside an expert in your field of research. This makes it ideal if you are looking for a hands-on element to help progress your research career.
Who is the presenter?
Dr Dan Osborn is Deputy Course Director for MRes Biomedical Sciences, pathway lead for MRes Reproduction and Development, and Academic lead for SGUL's Image Resource Facility.
He has worked in academic research for 22 years, where he has mainly modelled human genetic disorders in zebrafish. As such, he has developed extensive knowledge of many techniques at the forefront of academic research involving zebrafish.
Dr Osborn is primarily research focused but spends 20% of his time on teaching duties where he supervises PhD, MRes and undergraduate students on various research projects. He lectures on core Biomedical Science modules including Cell Biology, Regenerative medicine, Genomic Medicine, Developmental Biology and Disease, Human Genetics, and Drug Discovery.
Attending the webinar
To attend the webinar, you will need an internet connection for the device you're using, ideally a computer or laptop to view the event, and speakers or headphones to listen in to the event.
