Yuan Shen studied Computer Games Technology MSc at City St George’s and has won the Best Student Prize for the Department of Computer Science.
What were you most excited to learn about in your course?
During my Master's in Computer Games Technology at City St George's, my passion for game development fuelled my enthusiasm for the coursework. I was particularly excited to learn game development from the ground up, using OpenGL instead of relying on game engines. This hands-on approach deepened my understanding of graphics programming and the intricacies of game mechanics.
What is an example of work you have produced throughout your time at City St George's?
I applied my skills in Unity to create an engaging hide-and-seek game that was widely appreciated for its creativity and gameplay.
Additionally, I elected to study computer vision, which complemented my interest in AI by enhancing my understanding of image-based algorithms and their applications in games.
What was your final project?
For my final project, I had the privilege of working at a game development company, where I gained invaluable insights into the industry’s workflows and practices, significantly enriching my academic and professional journey
