Why did you chose City St George's?
There were three main factors which motivated me to study at City St George's, University of London, firstly its brand reputation, as City St George's is highly ranked and is one of the top institutions all over the world.
Secondly, the course and faculty of my degree was excellent. The professors seemed very experienced and the course content is highly diversified as it covers, cyber security, law, coding and different aspects.
Thirdly, I saw that City St George's offered scholarships – this was very motivating for me to attend.
How are you funding your studies – did you secure any financial support?
I arranged for financial support from my friends and family. I also received a 50% scholarship which helped me to manage my fees.
What knowledge and skills has your course helped you develop?
I am constantly learning new technologies and new software tools, which has enabled me to advance greatly in becoming proficient in different technologies and software tools. It includes Python, SQL, Power BI, SPSS, STATA and Excel.
The process is becoming easier and easier for me every day. Beside this, I am developing soft skills like team management, leadership abilities, time management and other valuable skills. On the other hand, my knowledge base is also increase in diverse sectors like law, cyber security, big data, fintech, blockchain and other important aspects.
What opportunities and experiences has your School offered you so far?
City St George's has provided ample opportunities to me in various aspects. Through academics I am developing my technical skills which I was lacking before. I am an active member of CitySport, as I use its gym facility regularly which helps me a lot to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
The career and employability team is always there for me when I need to apply for jobs and placements. The prayer room is also very good.
What opportunities and experience has the rest of City St George's offered you so far?
Beyond my academics, City St George's has helped me a lot. I am serving as a Student Ambassador in various schemes. Working as an Ambassador is a unique opportunity for me because it is helping me generating income, making new friends, developing leadership skills and also teaching me how to market myself.
Moreover, the networking events, workshops, webinars on different topics is also helping me a lot. So, all in all, it is an amazing experience, and I am trying to utilise the opportunities which are available to me as a student.
What services within your School or the University have you used during your studies?
I have used the Careers and Employability Team where I have learnt how to write a good CV, how to apply for jobs and get additional help.
Secondly, I am also taking part in different workshops. I am currently in a workshop conducted by Barclays bank.
What are your career plans and how has City St George's prepared you for them?
After attaining my degree, I intend to channel my skills into wealth management. Through their guidance and in-depth learning, I believe that I can showcase my skills and add value to the field by making a meaningful impact.
Moreover, the soft skills which I have developed at City St George's will play a crucial role in my success at both personal and professional journeys. I am ready to jump into the jungle of the unknown job market
What advice would you give to someone considering a degree in your subject?
I would suggest them that they might find something special here, something that could change their lives completely. Yet, the university, teacher, and support systems are all there to provide the assistance, but it is crucial for students to take responsibility in their studies and apply for all the opportunities coming their way.
But it is very critical that the individual takes ownership of their experience and seek out for every available opportunity.
If you could do any job related to your subject in the world, what would it be and why?
With a genuine love for trading and wealth management, I'm excited about the prospect of joining this field after I finish my degree. It's more than just a career choice for me; it's a passion I've nurtured over time.
As I learn the technical skills needed, I'm also immersing myself in market dynamics and financial analysis, eager to deepen my understanding.
I possess the qualities of desire to constantly improve, and striving for perfection in any undertaking for a purpose of desiring the task done right, which in that way I am getting nearer to contributing to the finance world. Hopefully one day, I will run the biggest wealth management firm in the world.
