Could you share more about particular projects/episodes you have worked on that were very special to you? Why was it important?

We have had the very exciting opportunity to create a podcast, ‘Women’s World: Equity by Design’ for the UNFPA. It’s been an honour to work on such an important and meaningful podcast. The episode my team produced was on women’s health and medical misogyny. Interviewing experts from across the globe working in healthcare and leading the change towards equity was an amazing experience. I can’t wait to release the podcast this summer!

What do you hope to achieve/who do you hope to reach with this podcast?

It is particularly exciting that this podcast will reach a global audience and could help raise consciousness and bring about change. I hope it reaches as many ears as possible. It not only explores the problems in healthcare but also presents some of the solutions to these problems. I hope the podcast can make people more aware of these solutions and help bring about change.

What are your career goals?

There are so many things I love about podcasting and want to do. I really enjoy making new podcasts for people to hear - there’s no better feeling than making a podcast you’re proud of. I’m particularly interested in podcast development and in developing new podcasts in response to the market and current events. I hope to do work both behind and in front of the mic/camera, so to speak, as I also really enjoy interviewing people and helping them tell stories that connect with others.

What was your favourite module on the course?

I have genuinely loved every single module I’ve done this year, and all of them have been crucial to my development as a podcaster. I think, overall, my favourite module has to be the year-long Storytelling module as it is what is at the heart of podcasting. We’ve been fortunate to hear from many experts in the industry, like Basia Cummings, Editor at Tortoise Media, among others, who have shared their creative insights and expertise about storytelling across all genres which have really developed my storytelling skill set.

Do you have a favourite memory from the course?

It’s really hard - almost impossible - to choose my favourite memory from the course, there have been so many! I’ve loved doing all of the interviews I’ve done over the year, the Pod Gold event in Term 1 was fun because we got to network with industry professionals and collaborated as a class to run the event and get material. Working with some of the Broadcast students in Term 2 and pitching with them was a fun experience. I think, overall, a real highlight has been the work experience I’ve done with Goalhanger and particularly working on The Rest Is Entertainment live show at The Royal Albert Hall in December was a treat as I got to work on a live show for the first time with an excellent team. I learnt so much!

Who is this MA Podcasting for in your opinion? What was your cohort like?

Honestly, anyone who is passionate about podcasting is suitable for the course. Our class is extremely diverse from all backgrounds, countries, ages, interests and careers. That was a real surprise, but also one of the best things about the course is the diversity of the people you get to work with. It really enhances learning because you all come with different experiences and ideas and over the year we have shared so much with each other - both in skills and stories. It has been great! It is one of the most diverse groups of people I’ve ever worked with, and it is wonderful.

How has the course helped you grow professionally or personally?

The course pushed me outside of my comfort zone but in the best way possible. I have grown in confidence and developed so much over the course of the year. I feel much more equipped to make great podcasts and further than that am much more employable to work in a range of jobs in journalism now. It is a real crash course in journalism, and you are learning from some of the best in the industry.

What impact did receiving The Goalhanger Bursary have on your experience?

Receiving The Goalhanger Bursary made it possible for me to pursue the Podcasting MA—an opportunity that would have been financially out of reach otherwise. Beyond the financial support, Goalhanger have been so helpful and generous by offering invaluable work experience throughout the year, which has greatly enhanced both my academic journey and industry insight. This bursary hasn’t just allowed me to study my ideal course—it has set me firmly on the path toward my dream career. Gaining hands-on experience with the UK’s leading independent podcasting company has been incredible, and I feel truly fortunate and grateful for the opportunity. I've had such a fun and busy year!
