Flavia Lamarre

Overview

Flavia’s research aims to contribute to the debate about whether women who are coerced into offending by their intimate partners should be allowed to invoke duress-based defences to elucidate the dynamics of domestic violence. The purpose of the investigation is to establish if duress-based defences could be constructed without stereotyping women and negating their agency.

Flavia holds the City Law School's full three-year doctoral scholarship. Previously, she was awarded a Chevening Scholarship and successfully completed an LLM at London School of Economics and Political Science. She also obtained a Master´s Degree in Criminal Tax Law at Universidad Torcuato Di Tella, Argentina. She got her LLB from Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA) where she graduated with honours after being positioned within the top 1% of those graduating in 2009.

Flavia has over ten years-experience working at the Judiciary and Prosecutor’s Office in Argentina. She has also been a criminal law assistant professor at Universidad de Buenos Aires. She is currently the academic secretary of the Criminal Tax Law Observatory at Universidad de Buenos Aires School of Law.
