Dr Nicola Kirkby

The DIVERSE CDT is training 60 doctoral researchers between City St George’s and Warwick to become experts and industry leaders in data visualization.

Nicola is based in the School of Science & Technology, at City St George’s, and the DIVERSE CDT extends across SST, the School of Policy & Global Affairs, and Bayes Business School, and Warwick’s Centre for Interdisciplinary Methodologies.

As CDT Manager, Nicola is operational lead and the first point of contact for students, academics, professional services colleagues, and collaborators in the day-to-day running of DIVERSE.

She is involved in strategic decision-making to shape the CDT’s culture and values and advises and supports the academic leads to implement the Centre’s ambition to diversify data visualization.

Nicola is part of a wider network of Managers for UKRI-funded Doctoral Training Centres and brings her expertise in transferrable skills training as a researcher developer to Data Visualization at City St George’s.

Beyond her role as CDT Manager, Nicola has academic expertise in nineteenth-century infrastructure and culture developed during her postdoctoral Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship with Royal Holloway University (2019-2023).

She is on the steering committee of the ‘Thinking Through Infrastructure’ network led by Dr Dominic Davies at City St George’s.
