Ashley Smith

Ashley's role as Business Development Manager is to help forge close relationships between the future leaders in data visualisation being trained at Diverse CDT and partners with real world, impactful data challenges.

Ashley joined City St George’s in 2023 as Business Systems Training Manager and then transferred to the Web Team, before taking his current role in Diverse CDT.

He specialises in managing relationships with highly diverse audiences and was the primary point of contact for around 70 global higher education and healthcare institutions for a leading research ethics software supplier.

Prior to this, he ran an online training business specialising in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training for international drug trials. This training was used by the researchers who developed one of the first mRNA-based Covid vaccines. Ashley’s webinar on GCP has been viewed over 29,000 times on YouTube.

He has worked as a scientific editor, publisher, newsletter journalist, marketing and communication manager, and trainer. Ashley has written and delivered online and face-to-face training and presentations for audiences from senior research scientists and corporate leadership teams to care home staff, and schoolteachers.

Ashley has an MSc in Plant Pathology from Imperial college and a BSc in Botany from the University of Bristol.
