I hold the position of Senior Partner at Sohal Law Chambers (est.1984) in Pakistan. I have full right of audience in Pakistan, allowing me to represent clients in various legal forums within the country.

In my role, I am primarily responsible for representing clients in various legal proceedings, including court hearings, negotiations, and arbitrations.

This involves thorough case preparation, which includes legal research, evidence collection, witness interviews, and the drafting of essential legal documents.

My responsibilities extend to addressing legal matters on an international front, with a notable emphasis on cases that engage global jurisdictions.

My professional pursuits have also encompassed the cultivation of robust relationships with international law firms, marked by the signing of MOUs with multiple esteemed UK law firms.

What motivated you to pursue the LLB Law?

Mooting not only sharpened my legal advocacy skills but also brought the theoretical knowledge from the classroom to life. It instilled confidence in my ability to navigate legal complexities and argue persuasively.

Participating in pro bono work, on the other hand, provided a sense of fulfillment by contributing to the community and promoting access to justice. It reinforced the ethical dimension of the legal profession.

How did you find studying in the UK?

As an international student from Pakistan, have been an unforgettable journey of personal growth and academic enrichment. The experience of being immersed in such a culturally diverse and historically significant city like London has broadened my horizons in ways I could never have imagined.

The exposure to different cultures and people from around the world has not only expanded my global perspective but also allowed me to forge friendships that will last a lifetime.

London's rich history and iconic landmarks have added a sense of wonder to my daily life, and exploring its historical sites and cultural attractions has been both educational and enjoyable. The city's professional landscape has also provided numerous networking opportunities, setting the stage for a promising future in my chosen field of law.

In the midst of all this, London's green spaces and efficient public transportation system have provided much-needed respite and ease of travel.

My international student experience in London has been a transformative chapter in my life, and I'll carry the knowledge, memories, and connections gained during these years with me as I move forward in my career and personal life.

Were there any challenges affecting your decision to study the LLB Law?

Like many prospective law students, I faced several challenges that influenced my decision to study the LLB Law. One of the most significant challenges was adjustment to a new academic environment and culture, especially as an international student.

Adapting to a different educational system and living in a foreign country can be initially daunting. To overcome this, I actively sought support from the university's international student services, which offered guidance on academic and cultural adjustment.

Additionally, I connected with other international students, forming a supportive community that helped me acclimate to my new surroundings. Balancing the demanding workload of a law degree with extracurricular activities and personal life can be challenging.

I found time management and organisational skills to be vital in this regard. Creating a structured study schedule and prioritising tasks helped me maintain a healthy work-life balance.

The academic rigour of law studies can be mentally taxing, and it's essential to seek help when faced with challenging subjects or coursework. The university provided academic support services and access to professors for clarification, which I utilised whenever needed.

In summary, while pursuing an LLB Law degree can come with its share of challenges, determination, resourcefulness, and seeking support from the university and fellow students were key strategies that helped me overcome these obstacles and successfully complete my studies.
