Dr Taskin Iqbal

Overview

Dr Taskin Iqbal is a Senior Lecturer in Law at The City Law School. Dr Iqbal’s main research interests are in corporate law, corporate governance and corporate social responsibility. Her work is interdisciplinary, and she is particularly interested in the role of corporate governance in protecting stakeholder interests and promoting corporate social responsibility. She also takes a keen interest in assessing the impact of multinational corporations on developing countries and their influence and responsibility in global supply chains. Her writing has been published in the Journal of Business Law, Common Law World Review, Deakin Law Review, International Trade Law and Regulation, and the Company Lawyer.

Dr Iqbal’s monograph was published in July 2021 with Routledge and is entitled ‘The Enlightened Shareholder Value Principle and Corporate Social Responsibility: A Theoretical and Qualitative Analysis'. It provides a critical analysis of the impact of the concept of Enlightened Shareholder Value on Corporate Social Responsibility and explores the scope for reform.

Dr Iqbal joined the City Law School in 2020. She is the module leader for the LLB and GELLB Global Issues in Corporate Law module and the LLB Company Law module. She also teaches Foundations of Trusts Law on the LLB programme and has previously been the module leader for the LLM IBL International Corporation Law module. She is the convener of the City Law School Staff Research Seminar Series.

Previously, Dr Iqbal was a postgraduate researcher and module assistant at the School of Law, University of Leeds, where she obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in Law. She received a letter of recognition for research excellence where the examiners of the thesis made special mention of research excellence.

She completed her LLB from Queen Mary, University of London. After that, she completed the Bar Professional Training Course and LLM in Professional Legal Skills (Conversion) from City, University of London.
