Overview
Dr. Sujit Biswas is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Cybersecurity and Programme Co-Director for Cybersecurity in the Department of Computer Science at City St George’s, University of London. He is also an Honorary Research Associate at the Centre for Blockchain Technologies, UCL and a Senior Member of IEEE, Fellow of HEA. His research focuses on Blockchain, Cybersecurity, Financial Technologies, Federated Learning, privacy-preserving AI, Agentic AI and scalable Internet of Things (IoT) systems, with particular emphasis on secure, trustworthy, and decentralised digital infrastructures. Prior to joining City St George’s, University of London, Dr. Biswas served as a Research Fellow in Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Surrey within the Centre for Vision, Speech and Signal Processing (CVSSP), Lecturer in Computer Science and Digital Technologies at the University of East London, and Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Faridpur Engineering College under the University of Dhaka. He obtained his PhD in Computer Science and Technology from Beijing Institute of Technology, where his doctoral research addressed scalable and interoperable blockchain solutions for Industrial IoT ecosystems.
His research contributions have been published in leading international journals and conferences, including the IEEE Internet of Things Journal, IEEE Transactions on Big Data, IEEE Transactions on Services Computing, IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management, IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics, IEEE Computer, and ACM Computing Surveys. He currently serves as an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics and holds editorial board positions in several international journals, including IET and Springer publications.
Dr. Biswas actively leads and collaborates on interdisciplinary research and innovation projects funded by industry and national funding bodies, including Innovate UK. His projects focus on trustworthy AI, intelligent automation, blockchain-enabled verification systems, cybersecurity for critical infrastructures, and AI-powered recruitment and education technologies. He works closely with academic, industrial, and international partners to translate advanced research into deployable real-world solutions with societal and economic impact.
Alongside his research, Dr. Biswas is deeply committed to teaching, supervision, and mentoring. He teaches across Cybersecurity, Blockchain, and Software Systems modules and supervises PhD, MSc, and undergraduate research projects. Through research leadership, international collaboration, and knowledge exchange, he continues to contribute to the advancement of secure, transparent, scalable, and socially responsible digital technologies.
