Dr Michelle Dillon

Senior Lecturer Child Nursing 

Michelle qualified with a DipHE in Child Nursing in 1999 and went on to specialise in children’s cancer nursing, dedicating 15 years to clinical practice in this field. She completed her BSc in Childhood Cancer Nursing in 2008 and her MSc in Practice Education in 2012, before transitioning to full-time academic teaching in 2013. Her passion lies in sharing her clinical experience and knowledge with students, supporting their development into empathic, compassionate, and critically reflective nurses who will shape the future of healthcare.

Michelle has recently completed her Doctorate at the University of Bath, with a thesis entitled "The international nurse: culture and communication in the NHS". Her research highlights the complex interplay between cultural identity, communication practices, and professional integration for internationally educated nurses working within the NHS. These insights inform her teaching and mentorship, helping students appreciate the value of cultural competence and inclusive communication in delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
