Overview
Meriem is a speech and language therapist specialising in working with school-aged children with speech and language needs. She joined the School of Health Sciences in 2021 as a Lecturer in Speech and Language Therapy. Before this, she worked at Birmingham City University as a visiting lecturer.
Meriem has a particular interest in child speech sound disorders and their links to literacy difficulties and speech, language and communication needs (SLCN). She is also a specialist dyslexia practitioner and assesses children for dyslexia. Additionally, she is passionate about promoting inclusion and diversity within the speech and language therapy profession. She has been involved in various projects focusing on diversity and inclusion and has worked closely with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists to bring these topics to the forefront of the profession.
Alongside her academic role, Meriem continues to support school-aged children with speech and language needs in mainstream primary schools.
