Overview
Dr Maayan Menashe is a Senior Lecturer at The City Law School, specialising in labour and employment law, international law, and global governance, with a particular focus on international labour law.
Maayan holds appointments at the University of Cambridge, serving as an Affiliated Lecturer at the Cambridge Faculty of Law, a Fellow of the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law, and a Research Associate at the Centre for Business Research.
Maayan’s research is interdisciplinary, integrating doctrinal, empirical, socio-legal, and law and economics perspectives. His work has been published in leading academic journals, including the Oxford Journal of Legal Studies, Industrial Law Journal, Harvard International Law Journal, and Comparative Labor Law & Policy Journal. He is co-author (with Sarah Fraser Butlin and Catherine Barnard) of Reimagining Employment Dispute Resolution and Enforcement (Hart Publishing 2026).
Previously, Maayan was awarded a three-year British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Cambridge Faculty of Law, with a project focusing on the enforcement of global labour rights. He also served as a College Research Associate at Sidney Sussex College, University of Cambridge; and as a Research Associate at Selwyn College, University of Cambridge, where he worked on a project examining employment dispute resolution in the UK.
Maayan completed his PhD at the University of Cambridge, for which he was awarded the Yorke Prize by the Faculty of Law. He also holds an LLM from Cambridge (First Class Honours) and an LLB from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (Summa cum Laude).
