Laura is a Lecturer for the MSc Psychological Therapies with Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) at City St George’s, University of London, and a BABCP Accredited CBT Therapist. She combines academic teaching with active clinical practice, bringing applied, evidence-based experience into the classroom. Her teaching aligns with NHS Talking Therapies and British Psychological Society (BPS) standards, incorporating case-based learning and clinical best practice. She also maintains a caseload of clients, delivering CBT both face-to-face and remotely.
Prior to joining City St George’s, Laura worked at the University of Surrey as Deputy Programme Director for the PgCert in Advanced Practice in Psychological Wellbeing, where she led curriculum development, managed a team of lecturers, and supported trainee recruitment.
Laura is currently a Visiting Lecturer for the MSc Clinical Psychology & Mental Health programme at the University of Surrey. She also served as an Associate Tutor for PWP and MHWP training at the University of Exeter and the University of East Anglia.
Laura contributes nationally through the BPS as an Assessor for both the Wider Psychological Workforce Register, and the PWP End-Point Assessments. She recently finished a three-year term as a member of the BPS PWP Partnership and Accreditation Committee, with responsibility for ensuring courses met accreditation standards.
Specialisms and Research Interests
Laura’s work focuses on improving access to psychological therapies and enhancing practitioner training. Her interests include:
- Practitioner wellbeing and clinical outcomes
- Widening access to training
- Quality assurance in CBT and PWP education
- Evidence-based low and high-intensity CBT
She has co-led an NHS-commissioned project based on widening access to PWP programmes and is an author on two papers researching therapist wellbeing and outcomes (in publication).
