About

Overview

Dr Jed Odermatt is Reader at The City Law School, City St George's, University of London, where he is a member of the International Law and Affairs Group (ILAG) and the Institute for the Study of European Law (ISEL).  His research focuses on public international law, international dispute settlement, and EU external relations law. He has published extensively on the role of international law in global governance and the evolving relationship between EU and international legal orders. He is the author of International Law and the European Union (Cambridge University Press, 2021). 

Jed’s research also examines legal education and pedagogy, particularly in the areas of sustainability, interdisciplinary teaching, and inclusive curriculum design. He is Principal Investigator of Working Together for Change: Strategic Approaches to Sustainability Education Through Authentic Group-based Assessments, a funded research project supported by the Centre for Online and Distance Education (CODE), University of London. He is a member of the Editorial Board of The Law Teacher: The International Journal of Legal Education, where he contributes to advancing the internationalisation of legal pedagogy.

Jed teaches and supervises in public international law and international human rights law. He leads the interdisciplinary undergraduate module Sustainability and Climate Change, which brings together legal, scientific, and social perspectives on climate change and sustainability. He also coordinates the City Law School research training programme for postgraduate students. He holds an MA in Academic Practice from City St George’s, University of London.
