Overview
Dr Helen Sisson is a Senior Lecturer in Children's Nursing. She is an NMC Registered Nurse (Child) and Specialist Community Public Health Nurse, and she holds a teaching qualification with the NMC. Dr Sisson's teaching experience has been supported by achieving a PG Certificate in Higher Education, and recognised by her award of Senior Fellowship with Advance HE.
Dr Sisson has held a variety of roles in practice in both the acute and community settings. Most recently, she was working as a Paediatric Research Nurse undertaking clinical vaccine trials in infants and children. Dr Sisson joined academia in 2010, in which time she has taught across a range of health programmes at a range of levels. She is currently module lead for BSc Nursing 2nd and 3rd year related research modules.
Dr Sisson maintains a keen interest in research which focuses on vaccine uptake and attitudes and this is reflected in her publications. She is an expert member of Yorkshire & Humber, Leeds West Research Ethics Committee and sits on the editorial board of Evidence Based Nursing.
